The museum opened in 2003 in a former Nabisco box printing factory in Beacon, New York as a home for Dia's renowned collection. Funds raised through the Benefit support Dia:Beacon's exhibitions and programs, and the 2009 event featured Merce Cunningham Dance Company’s final performance at Dia:Beacon.
