Michael Newman is Head of Theoretical Studies and Art History at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College, London. His essays have been included in numerous anthologies on philosophy, art, and art history, including Maurice Blanchot: The Obligation of Writing, edited by Carolyn Bailey Gill (Routledge, 1996). He has also contributed essays for catalogues of Avis Newman, Douglas Gordon, Jeff Wall, Julian Opie, and Richard Deacon, amoung others.
