The third Beacon Event was held on two stages, one outside and one inside the museum, in spaces adjacent to the galleries devoted to Bruce Nauman’s work.

John Cage Reading Room, Work With Words: A presentation consisting of various items that relate to Cage’s work with words, including publications (books, essays, magazine articles), selected art works that make use of language (such as Not Wanting to Say Anything About Marcel, and pages from the John Cage/Lois Long Mushroom Book) and archival materials (original manuscripts and sketches) relating to the exhibited works. Selected by Laura Kuhn, Director of the John Cage Trust at Bard College. In conjunction with the exhibition, an array of
materials (audio, video, and print) will be available for sale in the Dia:Beacon Bookshop. Sunday, May 18 through Monday, May 26, 2008. Dia:Beacon Bookshop Library. Open during regular museum hours, 11am-6pm, Thursday-Monday. Free with museum admission.
Family Day: MCDC and Dia’s education program present Family Day, a movement-based tour of various artworks in the museum. Participants will create their own dance “Events” based on their observations. Children age 6 and above are encouraged to attend and must be accompanied
