Anna Mecugni is a scholar of contemporary Italian art, visual culture, and gender studies. She is a Visiting Scholar at Vassar College, where she was the Interim Andrew W. Mellon Coordinator of Academic Affairs at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center and taught in the art and Italian departments. She is the Interim Andrew W. Mellon Coordinator of Academic Affairs at the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College, and has taught in the art and Italian departments at Vassar College. She holds a laurea in art history and performance studies from the University of Bologna in Italy, and a PhD in art history from the CUNY Graduate Center in New York. She is currently preparing a book that investigates the phenomenon of the tableau-vivant revival in Italian art and film of the 1960s and 1970s. She has held curatorial and educational positions at the Museum of Modern Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, both in New York, the Archivio Storico delle Arti Contemporanee in Venice, and the 2007 Venice Biennale. Her work has been published in Art in America, Museo Magazine, The International Journal of the Humanities, and Palinsesti.
