Special Fall Schedule and Seasonal Hours at Dia:Beacon, Riggio Galleries

Museum will remain open on Thursdays through November 21

Beacon, New York-A special fall schedule and seasonal hours take effect at Dia:Beacon, Riggio Galleries, Dia's museum for its distinguished collection located in the Hudson Valley. The museum, which is lit almost entirely by natural light via skylights, changes public hours to coincide with seasonal changes in daylight. Winter hours, 11 am to 4 pm, take effect on Thursday, October 20, and run through April 10, 2006. Additionally, to accommodate visitors during the Hudson Valley's peak leaf season, Dia:Beacon will adopt a special fall schedule and will continue to be open on Thursdays through Monday, November 21st. Following this date, the museum will be closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, through April 10, 2006. Dia:Beacon is closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

Special Fall Schedule and Hours: Thursday, October 20, 2005 through Monday, November 21, 2005, 11 am to 4 pm, Thursday through Monday (closed Tuesday and Wednesday). Café and bookshop open at 10:30 am.

Winter Hours: Friday, November 25, 2005 through April 10, 2006: 11 am to 4 pm, Friday through Monday (closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Café and bookshop open at 10:30 am.

Dia:Beacon is located at 3 Beekman Street in Beacon, New York, and is easily reachable via Metro-North Railroad (the MTA's Hudson Line station in Beacon is within walking distance of the museum) and by major roadways. Dia:Beacon, Dia Art Foundation's museum in the Hudson Valley, presents a distinguished collection of contemporary art from the 1960s to the present. Situated on the banks of the Hudson River in Beacon, New York, the museum occupies a former Nabisco box-printing facility, which was renovated by Dia with artist Robert Irwin and architect OpenOffice.

Dia:Beacon's expansive galleries comprise 240,000 square feet of exhibition space illuminated by natural light. The museum houses works by a focused group of some of the most significant artists of the last half century, including Bernd and Hilla Becher, Joseph Beuys, Louise Bourgeois, John Chamberlain, Walter De Maria, Dan Flavin, Michael Heizer, Robert Irwin, Donald Judd, On Kawara, Imi Knoebel, Sol LeWitt, Agnes Martin, Bruce Nauman, Blinky Palermo, Gerhard Richter, Robert Ryman, Fred Sandback, Richard Serra, Robert Smithson, Andy Warhol, and Lawrence Weiner.

Programming at the museum includes a series of year-long temporary exhibitions as well as public programs designed to complement the collection and exhibitions, including monthly Gallery Talks, music performances by St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, Readings in Contemporary Literature, Community Free Days for neighboring counties and an education program that serves area students at all education levels.

Dia Art Foundation
Dia Art Foundation was founded in 1974. A nonprofit institution, Dia is internationally renowned for initiating, supporting, presenting, and preserving art projects. Dia presents public programs and its permanent collection of works from the 1960s through the present at Dia:Beacon, Riggio Galleries, in Beacon, New York, within a 300,000 square-foot former printing facility on the Hudson River. Dia plans to relocate its acclaimed contemporary exhibition program in New York City to the future entrance to the High Line park in Lower Manhattan. The Foundation also maintains long-term, site-specific projects in the western United States, in New York City, and on Long Island.
