Members are invited to join us at the opening of Echoes from the Borderlands, a poignant, multilayered sound work by Valeria Luiselli, Ricardo Giraldo, and Leo Heiblum, featured at Dia Chelsea this winter. The piece—which runs 24 hours, the time it takes to drive from San Diego and Tijuana off the Pacific Coast to the Gulf of Mexico—blends soundscapes, melodies, archival and field recordings, and interviews to highlight issues like the genocide of Native peoples, migration, reproductive rights, and environmental destruction. The exhibition is accompanied by a chapbook by Luiselli, Giraldo, and Heiblum.

The private opening is preceded by a book launch and conversation between Dia’s director of publications Kamilah N. Foreman, deputy director of program Humberto Moro, and the artists. Spaces at the book launch are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis; register here or RSVP to rsvp@diaart.org.

Echoes from the Borderlands is curated by Kamilah N. Foreman, director of publications, and Humberto Moro, deputy director of program.

All exhibitions at Dia are made possible by the Economou Exhibition Fund.

Echoes from the Borderlands is organized in partnership with the Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA).
