Beacon, New York

Free. Space is limited; registration required.

In this program designed for adults living with dementia, participants will engage with the work of Felix Gonzalez-Torres with guidance from Mollie McKinley, artist and Dia educator, and Jodie Berman, recreational therapist and director of education at Evergreen Minds. Taking place in the gallery, participants will discuss “Untitled” (Loverboy) (1989) before creating their own art in response to the work.

Simultaneously, Dr. Michelle Olson, art therapist and executive director of Evergreen Minds, will lead an outdoor exercise focused on mindfulness for participants’ care partners. This workshop will be held in Dia Beacon’s garden and on the Robert Irwin deck. In the case of inclement weather, the workshop will be moved inside.

Please note: Seating will be provided throughout the program and wheelchairs are available upon request. Light refreshments will be served after the activities conclude.
