Michael Krebber was born in Cologne in 1954. Since the 1980s, Krebber has been probing the endurance of painting and of the systems embedded within forms of its artistic production through delicately crafted painterly gestures. Recent solo exhibitions include The Living Wedge, Kunsthalle Bern, Switzerland (2017); Studiofloor and Diamond Paintings, Fondazione Antonio Dalle Nogare, Bolzano, Italy (2021–22); Esprit de Corps, Galerie Buchholz, Cologne (2023–24); and Greene Naftali Gallery, New York (2024). From 2002 to 2016, Krebber taught at the Städelschule in Frankfurt. He lives in New York.
