About the Program
Mabel Wilson, architectural designer, discusses Koo Jeong A's dynamic spatial interventions into the Hispanic Society's gallery.
Mabel O. Wilson navigates her multidisciplinary practice 6Ten Studio between the fields of architecture, art, visual cultural analysis, and cultural history. Her design experiments and scholarly research investigates space and cultural memory in black America, race and visual culture, and new technologies and the social production of space. The Wexner Center for the Arts, the Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum’s Triennial, the Storefront for Art and Architecture, and SF Cameraworks have exhibited her installations. She is currently completing the book Progress and Prospects – Black Americans in the World of Fairs and Museums (forthcoming University of California Press Spring 2012.) She is an associate professor in architecture at Columbia University’s GSAPP where she directs the Advanced Architectural Research program.
