Leslie Hewitt was born in New York in 1977, where she lives and works. Hewitt’s work, which occupies a space between photography and sculpture, investigates how visual representation shapes readings of history, collective memory, and political consciousness. Recent group exhibitions include Test Pattern, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (2013) and Body Language at the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York (2013). Her most recent solo exhibition was presented at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (2012).
